Pizza is a delicious and nutritious dish to have that can be enjoyed as a hearty snack or meal. It’s quick and easy to make if you have the right ingredients. Everyone loves it! Here’s a way to make it fast and fresh at your very own home.
Use frozen pizza crust
The crust is the most difficult and time consuming of the steps when it comes to making pizza. To save yourself a lot of time and trouble, go ahead and use frozen pizza crust. There are many out in the market. Some even use whole wheat flour. Choose the size of the crust you like.
If you’re serving this at a party, you may want to use individual or mini pizza crusts. There are also 9-inch crusts available. This can be found at the frozen section of your grocery store. If you have a good crust, the work is half way done.
Get your ingredients for the sauce
It’s easy to make pizza sauce. Get two tablespoons of tomato paste, one cup of tomato sauce, a dash of salt and pepper, half a teaspoon of oregano, a teaspoon of garlic powder and a teaspoon of Italian seasoning. You may also add ¼ teaspoon of white sugar if you want a bit of sweetness to the sauce. Combine the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Set aside.
Decide on your toppings
Because you are making the pizza at home, it’s your choice what to put on it. You will need a lot of grated mozzarella cheese and a bit of grated parmesan cheese. If you love pepperoni, get sliced pepperoni from the deli. If you are a meat lover, indulge in ham and sausage.
If you like vegetables, add sliced button mushrooms, green bell peppers, onions and even some fresh oregano leaves. If you want something different, you can use olives, anchovies or even diced chicken breast on your pizza. It’s really up to you how loaded you want your pizza to be.
If you’re making this for kids, you may want to stick with just sauce and cheese. For grownups, you can go all the way and put just about anything. Whatever toppings you decide, chop or slice it into bite sized pieces.
Layer the pizza
Get your pizza crust and allow to rest on the counter for about ten minutes. Get some extra virgin olive oil and brush on about a teaspoon of oil on the crust. Now it’s time to ladle on the tomato sauce. Get a heaping scoop of the sauce and spread it on the crust with the back of a spoon.
Be sure to get sauce on the edges as well. Next, put the mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese. If you like other types of cheese, you can put that on the pizza as well but you must have mozzarella. Once you have the cheese, you can now layer on the toppings. There’s no right or wrong way to do this.
Bake in the oven
Place the pizza on a cookie sheet or a pizza pan and bake in the oven for fifteen minutes at 375 degrees, or until the cheese has melted. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
